Krush I agree with you. Rick you always seem to have the "downlow" on all games that are unreleased or in early stage beta testing. I can't help but remember you telling us all to quit d2 for daoc cuz it rocks, then 2 weeks later you bashed that game aswell. May I ask what your info for this latest SB bash? I thought wc3 beta sucked my ass but then I said wtf and bought it and I love it. Even if you are correct about beta sucking why do you think it's called "BETA" and not released by now?

Obviously my opinion here, but the leaked reports of betatesters imply that the game server is very unstable (after how many years of a laughable "beta"?), classes are hugely imbalanced, and though it's billed as something different, it's just another level grind on the leveling treadmill. Simply put, it ain't fun.

This is fact. You click where you want to go. Supposedly done to save bandwidth. If I want Diablo, I'll play Diablo. Wolfpack (the devs) are obvious amateurs in the MMORPG world now run by the big guys (Microsoft/Turbine, Sony/Lucasarts, etc.).

Fact. Check out the screenshots and compare them to Asheron's Call 1. For a game that will (might?) come out after Asheron's Call 2, the graphics are only slightly better than the first-gen MMORPGs. Sad. This being the case, gameplay better be first rate. I don't think it is.

Sadly very true. They've also been in closed beta for ages, and I doubt they'll have an open beta before release. If people realize how shitty it is, they won't buy it.

By the way, I never told anyone to quit D2 for DAOC. I might have dissed EQ for all the down-time, but D2 is a damn classic that I still occasionally play. I gave DAOC a shot, but unlike rabid fanbois, I made up my own mind after playing it for a month. DAOC bites because it was released in an unfinished state, missing beaucoup content, hugely imbalanced and is hit with the nerf stick every 5 seconds, has a crappy end-game, has morons running the show (Sanya the PR lapdog used to diss EQ to no end and they got her to shut up by hiring her, Mark Jacobs, the president is a big fucking baboon), etc.

But you are wrong about release date it is set for Feb 7th 2003 which is only 4 monthes away.

And you mentioned LucasArts as a vet in the MMORPG scene. I can't recall any MMORPG's they have made, only low end sega/super nintendo/n64 and recently ps2 games and of course copies of them all for PC. But I would not call them MMORPG's by any stretch of the imagination. I am not saying they have not made a MMORPG I am just saying I have never heard of one under their label or at least can't recall one.

Also, rick i have been looking at the wwebsite, and sb is gonna fucking own. Its cool features >>>> the shitty ones

last patch has opened up some interesting possibilities and given me a reason to raise all my crafters to high er levels:D

great new possibilites, like the total disabling of all low-hp, high damage classes like rouges and casters.


more resists mean longer battles, and tank thrive in longer battles. only fucking game in the history of games that changes every patch.

remember when everyone had uber items in d2? was that fun? only difference here is i'm actually paying to be pissed.

It's not nearly the problem that D2 had, for one thing items are capped, stats are capped, resists have caps, dps have caps, everything has level based caps. The amount of time you have to put into making your items, balancing your bonuses, farming the cash for the funds, makes it worth while, because it feels like you are working for something. I will agree with you about the tanks, but tanks sucked before, they just put too many things in the last few paches that weighed heavily in their favor. All those cheap RA's, and then all the bonuses you will be able to tweak from SC and alchemy have unbalanced the classes in favor of tanks lately. Rogues are still a favorable class, many advatages, tanks have become fun with the additions, healing and support classes are more capable than ever. The hardist hit by the patch was mages. We have low hp's as it is, our damage has lost a lot of it high out put due to elemental resist caps. Our low hp's and low damage output has made us the current farm of DAoC.

Rick your a fag go play your Asheron's Call 2 with no plot line and no late game. At least Shadowbane is innovative.

Darc, although it is quite a bummer that your class sucks, you have to realize that mythic loves to fuck classes... and that it's an ongoig cycle. Hell, soon enough thanes are going to be uber...

This patch didnt just fuck one calss tho, it fucked all mage classes in general. The majority of the hard hitting mages use Energy and Heat type damage, all dots are matter or body based, all mezzes are body based, so if your thinking about making a class that uses this type of magic, I would reconsider.
